"Show icon in notificatoin area when connected"
I have unchecked this option in Local Area properties in order to remove the Lan Connection notification while connected. Upon its disconnection, a similar icon with a big red cross appears from nowhere and says "A network cable is unplugged" What am I supposed to do to get rid of that icon? |

Do you by any chance have two network cards installed on that computer? If so, disable the unused one through Device Manager and that icon should go away.

I had a problem like that and it was caused by a bad coupler in the cat-5 cable, at the time I only had two short pices and for a quick fix I just used a coupler to make one long cable till I could run a new wire, it keep getting that cable disconnect and then cable connected, after I run the new cable, never got the error again.
I would not recommend disableing that, it does a good job watching the connection. |

On my system, you can simply right-click on the icon and choose to not display it. I leave mine on so I know when someone is on the other computer(s) and not shut down my (the host) machine and cut them off.
