winlogon.exe memory hog?

Any idea why the winlogon.exe process would use upwards of 9.3M of memory on a W2k machine? No apps running and 1/2 of the total (including page file) memory is being used and the 'top' user is winlogon.exe at 9.3M. I've seen it use as little as 485k on other machines. The machine has 128M and running only one app, renders it basically useless.

Thanks in advance,
John
