Angry Errors on XP boot

Hello,
I recently purchased a new computer.
CPU is P4 2.4, and the motherboard is an Asus p4s800 .
I installed WinXP, everything went ok. But then after I installed the drivers on the ASUS motherboard disk I got some weird errors during boot up, and I have to restart my computer several times until it finally boots Windows.
I assume the problems came after I installed the ASUS drivers, but I'm not sure.
I just installed whatever was on that disc, like the SoundBlaster drivers or an 'AGP Driver' or something like IDE Driver.
Basically when I boot I get errors such as
"ntfs.sys is corrupted or missing, (I don't think it's missing)
"isapnp.sys" same thing
"Windows can't load DLL for kernel" or something like that, I'm not sure.

I tried reinstalling windows, but the setup starts up, and then says there is an error, and it closes setup.
so basically I can't do anything much right now.
Anyone ever had those problems before?

I'm getting all these errors...
How to explain it.
It's like I get an error msg and then you gotta click and it restarts
I get another or maybe the same error and again, restart. Eventually after 6-7 Windows will boot up..

Yes I can enter the bios setup...... (the errors occur after that during the OS boot)

I'll check the safe mode thing and get back to you.

with xp, you do not need to load all the drivers fot the motherboard, xp should have the drivers that are needed to run properly

bailey,
It has many but not all.
The p4s800 may be too recent.
If he can get to the bios then it's probably not hardware so the software problem is solvable.
I'd tell him to zero out the drive, use the utility downloaded from the drive makers site, and start again.
Do not just install everything on the motherboard cd, that's what got you into trouble to begin with.
When the basics work come back for 'what to install'.

Zeroing out the drive is overwriting it with zeros. It's a complete erase that returns the drive to factory standard.
It is also sometimes referred to as a low level format.
The diagnostic and the utility for that is available for free, down loaded on to a floppy disk, from the Western Digital web site. Just make sure you get the one intended for your particular hard drive model. You should find it under either support or diagnostics.
Put the floppy first in boot order in the bios and program will launch from the disk when you restart. You can run the diagnostics if you wish, it's a good idea, and then zero out the drive.
Reboot, remember to remove the floppy, go back into the bios and set the cd-rom to first in the boot order and then fdisk and format ( NTFS is a good idea ) and install over again.
This time go over the motherboard drivers carefully.
In fact post back here with your complete specs before you use it.

OK, So guess it's not the motherboard drivers,
downloaded the utility, it reformatted my partition, and yet, windows XP setup crashes on start.
so I'm stuck with no ability to install
could it be a hardware problem? HD ? Motherboard?
I mean it's new...

Hardware isn't working.
The usual problem is the ram but so start with that.
If you have two dimms try one at a time.

edit : eventually I learn to spell ( to-two). Test your ram first.

The problem that you are experiencing is probably related to bad RAM. I had the same problem earlier this year and could not get a clean install of Win XP until i changed out both sticks. Check to ensure that your memory is compatibale with your Mboard and that it's good. Good luck. Gneo
