windows ME

hello
after installing windows me on a compaq presario 5330 i am getting a yellow exclamation on pci communication device, that would be the modem correct?i have searched and cannot find drivers,any help please

Look for something on the modem to identify the brand, chipset name, etc.

i took out the modem ,i dont know what numbers to list but there is on the largetst chip >conexant

Well... it uses conexant chipset... you can find out who manufactured the modem here.

I have had a hell of a time finding drivers for that particular modem chip. I found lots of drivers, but getting any of them to actually work was a nightmare.

I think in the end I used some generic ones from Driverguide.com, that worked and gave full functionality of the modem.

okay thanks people,ive had a great day putting windows me on a compaq for a friend,never again ill try to find the driver again tommorrow(i guesss you have noticed i use a different user name from work )
