windows ME
hello
after installing windows me on a compaq presario 5330 i am getting a yellow exclamation on pci communication device, that would be the modem correct?i have searched and cannot find drivers,any help please thanks |

Look for something on the modem to identify the brand, chipset name, etc.

i took out the modem ,i dont know what numbers to list but there is on the largetst chip >conexant rh56d-pci |

I have had a hell of a time finding drivers for that particular modem chip. I found lots of drivers, but getting any of them to actually work was a nightmare.
I think in the end I used some generic ones from Driverguide.com, that worked and gave full functionality of the modem.

okay thanks people,ive had a great day putting windows me on a compaq for a friend,never again
 ill try to find the driver again tommorrow(i guesss you have noticed i use a different user name from work )
