Duplicated Start-up Items

I had to re-install WinXP SP1 in a new directory named WinXP. After the installation I deleted the old directory “Windows”.

Now the items in the Start-up Directory of the Start Menu attempt to load twice. Running MSConfig shows the items listed under “Common Start-up” and “Start-up”. Disabling the items under one of these two listings causes both to be disabled and nothing loads.

How do I physically delete these items from Start-up and then re-enter them so they only start once.

Yes I tried a couple of times and they still load twice. I think I will have to re-install WinXP and see if that sorts it out.
