repair windowsXp

Hello all, I sort of messed my computer up and I don't know what I did so I thought I would fix it by doing a repair to XP from the cd. We'll it requires commands and I don't know the commands. The cd ask me if I want to repair and when I say yes I get c:windows so I typed repair in and it was an invalid command. so My ? is what are the commands.
BTW, I purchased a copy os pcmech because I just built my 1'st computer and I never would have gotten through it without pcmech so my hat is off to you.
thanks,sfuhrman

The repair console and the repair install are two different things. To do a repair install you need to skip the repair console and go on with a new install, once the setup sees the previous install you will get an option to repair the older install or install a new one.
