cant delete folder please read!

Hey guys,

I was reading all the helpful threads on how to delete those avi files, but i have sort of a different problem. after i reformatted my hd (im running xp home), these two folders that were there previously ("xerox" and "microsoft frontpage") remained in my program files as folders with subfolders but with absolutely nothing in them. When i try to delete, rename, or move them, i get that error of "this is being used by another program or process etc.". I find that rather strange since theyre both completely empty (im pretty sure there are no hidden folders). Would I do the same thing as deleting a folder as I would a file? This may sound stupid but I wanna make sure. thanks for your time.

see if you can delete those folders under safe mode or in DOS.

For whatever reason, Microsoft, all wise (??), has protected those files against deletion.

That's really wierd because I have the EXACT same issue. I dont' have any xerox products and I know that Frontpage is usually stored in the Office folder or in a Microsoft Frontpage folder (with uppercase letters). Both of these folders are lowercase, maybe there's something more than meets the eye...

Re: My response above.

I copied this from another forum:

This from Paul Thurrott, a windows expert... looks like the folder is just a useless and annoying nuisance.
"Both of those folders are actually installed by Windows XP and can't (at
least theoretically) be removed. The frontpage folder is for backwards
compatibility--some versions of Windows 9x included a FrontPage Express
program for Web editing and it seems that some apps rely on that folder
being there for some reason. The xerox folder is used by the imaging
software in XP, as Microsoft licensed some of the tech from Xerox. My
understanding is that it's used as scratch space."
