Win9X screen savers with XP...can it be done?
Is there a way to make those older screen savers work with XP? I really liked that "Mystery" from win9X o/s.
ThanX in advance |

I've run several 98 programs on XP using the Compatability feature. They all run fine that way. Not sure about screen savers though as I prefer to not install any. The hog up resources and I prefer to turn the monitor off after 15 minutes of idle time. After 20 minutes, my system goes to standby. All settings are adjustable in Power Options of Control Panel if you're interested.

Most screen savers are just one file. Copy one over and give it a try. Like Panama Red, I run some 98 (and older) programs, but I don't use screen savers .except "blank"

Ut ohhh, What's this compatability feature and how can I possible use it with those older screen savers? I've tried copying them into the Windows system32 directory and most of them appear in screen saver properties section, but, to get them to work is something else. I also tried to rename them with "ss" in front of 'em that worked for one of them but, all the rest still don't work? Anybody ever had any success with this? By the way, thank you for the replies!
