Windows XP Professional, Vibra 128 Sound card here. Windows is unable to record any voice through any working mic.
I have tried reinstalling sound card drivers but it still wont work. There is no exclaimation signs whatsover, mind you! Any suggestions? Also.. Can anyone suggest where can I download the digitally signed sound card drivers (Creative PCI 128 WDM) for WinXP Pro. |

Troubleshooting steps:
1. Mic is plugged into correct port on sound card 2. Mic is the correct type to work on a computer 3. Double click the volume icon in the System Tray to open the Play Control Window. Check that the mic isn't muted. Click on the Advanced button for the mic settings and enable boost. What software are you using to record? All "digitally signed" means is that the company paid Microsoft a bunch of bucks to check out the drivers and say that, as far as they can tell, they're okay. Some companies aren't bothering to do that anymore. |

Sound Recorder is limited to something like 60 seconds of recording time. If you're trying to record anything longer than 60 seconds, you need different software.
Music Match Jukebox is free and does record so you might try it...or any other recording software you may have or can find on the net. |
