I have a small home network running Windows XP Pro.
Recently some of the shared folders on one of the machines could not be accessed. I have tried making new shares with empty folders, even in different drives on the same system. I get the same error message which is : NOT ENOUGH SERVER STORAGE TO PROCESS THIS COMMAND. Can anyone resolve this issue please ? |

WinXP Shares
Is your network setup to share files? If not then you must set up a desktop on each computer for the other one trying to access it. I went through a similar problem with my home network. Lets say you want to share a file on bill's desktop with mandy...we'll mandy's computer must have a desktop setup on the comupter named bill, and with his password, simmilarly bill must have a desktop on his computer named mandy with her password. If this has been done correctly, I have no clue what th problem is. Good Luck!

Got it sorted thanks to the posts:
It seems that this problem is caused by some AV software such as PC-Cillin modifying a registry entry in Win XP. Once it's put back everything is fine. Hkey_local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters. From here there should be an entry called IRPStacksize. It's value should be Decimal - 15. My AV Software had set it to a Hex value. The problem started just after i installed the AV software, uninstalling it does not reset the parameter. Hope this helps others, it must be a common XP problem with network shares and AV software, Thanks again. Great Job. |
