Win2000 Pro Installation error

I am trying to install win2000 pro to the following spec m/c

msi k8t m/b & 3.2 amd cpu
ati radeon 9800 grap card
512 mb 400 memory

After paritioning the disk win 2000 hangs at the searching for installed hardware screen.

i have tried reinstalling, repartioning etc with no luck.

the only thing i can think of is that the drivers on the win2000 cd can't handle AGPx8 or the radeon 9800 card? Is so how do i install drivers before o/s is loaded.

Any suggestion help would be appreicated as i am running out of ideas.

Yes this is the problem. (other wise I'm a awesome guesser)
Are you using a SATA HDD also? if not dont worrie about the drivers. If so install the drivers and install 2k to it
Does your board had normal IDE controllers? If so use it for this innitial install.

im only using an ide hdd. i installed the sata drivers just incase the o/s was trying to detect them, then hanging.

i have tried installing with and without sata driver but same problem.

i have discounted cpu over temp and psu problems. That leaves soundcard and graphics card.

as the soundcard in onboard there is nothing i can do about this.

i am going to borrow an old svag pci graphics card (or 2x agp) and attempt to install instead of radeon card.

after that all i left with is the IDE controller driver itself to try and change

2k always hangs here is there are any conflicts with the raid/scsi.

I have never seen this issue with sound or video.

Use only the on board IDE's (no cards) and make sure your HDD is in the primary IDE channel and the CD is in secondary no funny slaving or anything. I would try 80 wire's on both with cable select, then both masters if this fails.

Sounds like its gonna be a sweet rig.
