XP Install Date?

I was wondering if there was a way to find out when I first installed XP because I decided it's time to format and I want to know how long it's been.

In the Windows folder you should have a "setuplog.txt" that was created upon the install and will have the date in it unless you have deleted the file.

there really is no reason to format when your running xp.
there is nothing to be gained with a format unless you just want to elimate a lot of programs that you will not be putting back on,

there is nothing that xp cant take care of to cause a need to do a format.

I would rather see you get a good book on xp and play with it to learn all the things you can do with it, and you will soon learn that format is a big waste of time.

unless you like to do it for the fun of it

I want to format for a few reasons, because I hear it's good keeping to do it every 6 months or so, I want to slipstream SP1 in to my disc, and I want to do all my registry tweaks and stuff over, but this time i'm going to document them.

I agree... no need to format, especially an NT based system such as XP. Heck... I have servers out there that have been running 24/7 for 5 or 6 years and have never been wiped and run as good as the day they were setup.

If anything... do a virus scan/clean and spyware scan/clean, then possibly a repair install.
