Hi guys,

I've run into a problem which is really getting on my nerves and i can't seem to work at what's wrong.

I received some of my usual dose of spam and while deleting them i opened one and it lead to the usual porn pop up attack.I closed all windows and thought nothing more of it until some weird things started happening.

First of all about 10 porn URLs showed up in my favourites folder. Then my home page that comes up when i open IE has changed to a different URL and even after i changed it back, the same URL keeps listing itself.

Then unbelievably on a lot of pages i open whether it is on this forum or on any other site, that same url will put itself on the page as a link, replacing the url that would be there normally.

I've run the swat it program and also downloaded search and destroy and ran that but it doesn't seem to pick up anything.I'm thinking that one of those pop up pages installed something on my computer but i don't know what.Has anyone run into this problem before and how do i fix it,thanks?

The extra pages in your favorites folder is a new one to me, but I had a similar problem with my home page. I stopped that one with StartPage Guard. Available at: http://www.webattack.com/get/startpageguard.shtml

Did you do the update on Spybot S&D before running the program? Also D/l, update, and run AdAware. Also, the registry cleaner in JV16 may help a lot. It's shareware now, but I believe they still have a 30 day free trial.

Corky,thanks a lot mate.

I found nothing with spybot but i hadn't checked for any updates before i scanned.I just downloaded the update and done a scan and BINGO!

It picked up 2 exe programs that were installed in windows and another 2 items in the registry.I deleted them and there backups,so far so good but i will make sure tomorrow when i log on that it hasn't come back. Thanks again.
