XP Network
I recently installed XP Pro on my Dad's computer (tonight actually), after I setup the network, I tried to transfer a file from my comptuer to his, but everytime, I just get an error saying "access denied" "contact your administrator", how do I change it so that my Dad's computer will accept files from my computer? Thanks!

you need to make sure that the basics are covered.
same workgroup both have shared folders proper permissions and ascsse enabled in each system at first try it from the adminstrators login on each xp does have a very good security setup |

ok did you create any user accounts on eather system.
if not then it is booting up with you as the adminstrater. when you rightclick on the folder you want to share, it will have a menu the you click on shareing. there will open a window that will allow you to share it to all or password it and many other things just set it to all do this on both systems and it should work ok |

You will need an account on both systems with passwords then in XP you will need to disable "simple file sharing" go to Control Panel > Folder Opps > View, in the Advanced Settings scroll down and uncheck the "Use Simple File Sharing". Then go to the file, folder or drive to be shared and click on properties and set the share with the permissions for the users you want to have access to the share/s. You may have to add the user/s to the permissions list. To do this click add and either enter the user or use the advanced option and search for the user, once added you can them delegate what rights the user has to the share.
