Being a Power User

Does being a power user increase the performance of the system in anyway? I've read that being a power user is good for gaming because there are fewer un-needed applications running. Is there any truth to this?

TIA

I would find that highly doubtful.

Don't know what you mean by "power user"...that's usually a term given to someone who has a lot of experience with computers and uses it to it's fullest.

Is "Power User" a new performance enhancing utility or something?

Being a power user is just a mental tweak.

Actually, the Power Users group in windows allows users to change system settings and install programs that don't effect Windows System files.

I don't see any performance advantage to this, because it allows all programs to run, because they have been installed with admin rights. The only thing it really doesn't allow you to do is update Windows or access the Admin's profile.

Thanks for the reply Mr N8.

I read that on the Battlefield 1942 forums. Someone posted that saying it would increase game load times or something to that effect. I guess they knew as much about it as I did. Thanks for the info!

Well I doubt you would get any performance increases by running as a power user, you can just got ahead and try it then you will know definitively if it works or not.
