98se over 98se
I want to reinstall 98se over my existing instalation to possibly correct some changes to files I may have inadvertently messed up. I'd like to keep all my pics, and data.
With the system booted to windows, if I insert the cd and choose install, does this put everything back to the way it was at the first install, minus the updates, or do I have to do it differently? Thanks!

Boot from the CD to a command prompt with CD support... then switch to your CD drive and run the command;
SETUP /p f make sure you put the spaces in for it to work correctly. This will restore changed system files and retain all your data and settings.
