Exclamation BAD SIGN: Won't even boot in safe mode.

Lately I have been making attemnpts to customize my Windows XP. www.themexp.org ... I have a visual style and then I noticed boot up screens. I read the directions and tried it out. I downloaded a couple and booted up into Safe mode and switched them. Then I restarted and after the bootup screen a white screen came up then a really fast blue screen and it restarts. Then I booted safe mode and it didn't work. After a couple more safe mode triews it opened up. I figured maybe this is a defective boot screen. I changed it with another one that I liked. Same thing.... Won't boot normally or in safe mode. I tried for over an hour hopeing that safe mode might work. I tried every other function in F8... even reset to last working settings. Nothing works. I then realize that I when editting the boot screen I was in safe mode but in my account.... perhaps I needed to be in administrator. Unfortunately I think about that after I can't get in. PLEASE HELP ME.

Hello Timecube,

Try running a Repair installation of Windows XP.

I'm thinkin an install "over the top" may do the trick. Give that a try and post back on the results.

Send a message via AIM to boxcarracer767
Usually changing the logon or boot screen can cause those type of problems, the best thing to do is what markoman suggested, put in your XP recovery CD-Press Enter-Press R-to run the repair installation which will replace your windows system files only, and should keep all your other files
