XP Home Retired PC

XP can be more than 10% of a PC's purchase price. Has anyone installed XP in a new PC that had been installed on an old PC that is not going to be used anymore? I know you would be "caught" so to speak if you used two PC's with the same Physical XP online.

I just want to know on the up and up stuff.

you can install on a new computer as long as you uninstal it from the old one and as long as your copy is not a recovery disk instead of a full version

Your EULA may allow the transfer of the OS to another computer, so long as its been uninstalled from the old computer. But you may have an easier time with the corkheads at Microsoft when reactivating by just saying you hve UPGRADED your computer!

Microsoft CAN, but doesn't go after, every instance of nonconforming use. They are concentrating on those who are trading in bogus software and who use them in business. If Microsoft when after its customers (like the RIAA), people might jump to Linnux and other software.

Microsoft realizes that people who give them SOMETHING are their customers.
