Angry Update and Outlook Express Problems.

I'm currently having two problems with my email and updating my W98SE.

When I click to open Outlook Express I get a window message sayiing

"Outlook Express Could Not Be Started because MSOE.DLL could not be loaded"

I see the file is still in the program folder. What do I do to fix this.

My other problem is when I go to Windows Update, there is a line at the top saying,

"New Windows Update Software Required"

I click on the "UPDATE NOW" button to get this and I get a security message saying"

Security Warning....
The publisher cannot be determined due to the problems below..
Authenticode signature not found....
"Do you want to insall and run "http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/CAB......etc.....

When I click yes, it just goes back to the screen that says I need the new software update. What's the deal?

Thanks,

Radar

See the MS KB article, Outlook Express Could Not Be Started Because MSOE.DLL Could Not Be Loaded, for the fix.

If one of the recent downloads from Windows Update included the updated files for security certificates, and if your also downloaded and updated the most recent "Windows Update Controls", seems like you should be able to leave PcCillin running while you visit Windows Update.

Along the lines of the MSKB article that Miz posted, you can also download & install IE6 the most recent Service Pack, and that should take care of the OE error - just make sure to checkmark the box next to OE in the download, if you do the custom download (I recommend the custom downloads, you have more control & a better understanding of what's being updated).

Best of luck
