Can't find .exe file type
I was in front page and I want a hyperlink to open up a .exe file but instead it says that no editor is associated in front page and then it tries to save the file (as opposed to run it).
Since I need to know which programme runs .exe file I went into XP's file types and .exe is not listed in file types (I've enables the view so it should show all file types and enabled all view options) . XP isn't displaying .exe in file types so where is it? If you also know how to get Front Page to run a file by hyperlink that would also be useful. Oh I should note that I'm also running XP Professional if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help PS I've put the Front Page problem in with XP problem because they may be ralated and I'd rather not put another post up to something that may be the same problem. |

You can't force a .exe application to run automatically when you hit the hyperlink. That would be a security breach for you and everyone else.
.exe is not listed in the file types because only other file types will need some other application to be run in order to actually open that file type. .Exe on the other hand runs itself and doesn't need to be associated with any other application. |
