Try booting meatheads machine to safe mode. If it boots, try changing the driver. If that fails, try F8 and last known good configuration.

In the future, if you get a message saying this option may screw up meatheads machine and make it not work, try not doing that..

do you have a win2k cd or can you get meatheads cd ? if so set the bios to boot from cd and boot the computer with the 2k cd and do a repair install of 2k all his data and programs will be ok you may have to reinstal any service paks affter but at least his computer will work then get the corect driver for the vid card and any other hard ware that win2k has not found

If that's the case, go into BIOS and change the first boot device to the CD-ROM drive, put the WinXP CD into the drive, Save and Exit the BIOS. The system will reboot to the WinXP CD and the WinXP installer will take over. Just follow the on-screen instructions.

But if there are any hardware problems (like a defective video card) this isn't going to solve the problem.

if you do as cricket says you will have to give the copy of windows xp to the meathead as one copy =1 computer befor you do try opening the case and remove the vid card and put the one from your computer in then turn on the computer and as the bios finishes loading keep pressing the f8 key till you get the boot menue then chose safe moad and see if the computer will boot if it dose remove the vid card from device manager and any software you instaled shut the computer down exchange the vid cards again and reboot

if you have a legal xp cd then it will work but like andyms said you will lose that xp because it will have to be activated and cannot be used on another comp.but i guess you knew that.

If you have an illeagle xp cd and you already have it on 1 computer as long as on the second computer you dont register it and they say access denied you have 30 days free of xp then it erases it self and you have to re-install it
