taskbar date / time
My Win 98.2 and XP Home boxes show the time in the Taskbar. I like that. But, my XP Pro machine shows the time, and the date, and the day. I can't find where to change this to time only. Seems like I can turn it on or off, but not how it is displayed.
Any ideas? |

What size do you have your taskbar? Mine is at one line and it only shows the time but if I increase it to 2 lines then it will show the day and if I increase it to 3 it will show the time, day and date.

Hi bailey and lil Jimmie
![]() The size is the "ticket!" I changed to one line, and only the date shows, but on my system, when I change to two lines, it shows all three items. Probably a difference in screen res. All I could find else where, like in settings, only Enables or Disables if that info is shown or not. Thanks for the tips! ![]() TwoRails PS: I was going to start a new thread on this, but, if you don't mind, I'll ask here: In Win 98.2 you could easily arrange the Programs list under the Start menu by simply going thru the Taskbar and Settings tab sheet. Hate to sound so lame, but I can't find any such option with XP... Any ideas on that one? TIA

If you are referring the sort in order just right click on any of the programs in the programs list and select "sort by names". I hope this is what you trying to do.

Well, close. I'm just now starting to load stuff on my box, so let's say I load a game but want it under the "Games" group. How do I move it around after the program's been installed?

You should be able to drag and drop them in programs list.

In Win 98 you could open a Windows Explorer type window under the Advanced tab and create folders and move things around easily. Using just the program list, I can move, but not create folders.

If you want to create a folder just go to X:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Start Menu\Programs and add the folder then add the shortcuts to it. If you want the folder on all users destops then add the folder to the all users start menu path.

To make sure I understand: Because of XP's advanced user features I have to actually go thru Windows Explorer to get to where I could go in Win 98, but then edit each user as needed / required...
Hope I said that right!

I forgot how it is done in 98 but yeah if you want to add/modify the folders in the program list then this is one way to do it, maybe someone else knows a better way.

Ya, that's what I was looking for! Never thought about right clicking on the Start button itself
![]() Thanks!! TwoRails PS: So, I take it to do just one individual, you still go thru Window Explorer as mentioned above, eh? |
