Outlook Xpress probs.

Hi am runnning win98, and I cannot get into my Outlook express
The following error msg comes up:

'OE could not be started. The applicatijon was unable to open the OE message store. Your computer may be running out of memory or your disk is full. Conatct MSoft support for further assistance (0x80040154, 1245)'
and after I click on ok:
'OE could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. OExpress may not be installed correctly.'

I am running PII 300mHz 392 mb SDRAM and on a fresh restart, I still get this error msg. What can I do? Can I uninstall IE 6. and then PE with it and just e-install.. or is there an easier way?

The fix I see referred to most often for this is to uninstall OE, then reinstall it (you can update both your IE and OE at the same time if you want to = do the "Custom" install & specify what you want to download & install) . . .

-Or-
If you recently imported a .wab file from a cd, check to see if it's still marked "read-only" in it's Properties. If yes, uncheck the read-only. This tip is from http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum...00/t1058485513

Also be sure to do a full system scan for viruses, since so many of them cause havoc with Outlook (both Express and regular). . . TrendMicro's HouseCall is a good online check http://housecall.trendmicro.com

Best of luck

I have the same problem. Cannot open outlook. Where do I uncheck the read -only function. I mean are the properties to this located?
Thanks Chris

I keep getting this message also except my numbers are just a bit different.. I tried to find wab folders in outlook express program files. All are unchecked. This problem just started out of the clear blue. Could someone help me fix this please? I am not sure about un and reinstalling it. I do have my Windows me CD.
Is there a simpler way to fix this problem? It seems not to be an isolated incident.
My disk is not full and like I said it worked fine. No viruses. Something went wrong. I think I may have downloaded an update or something. Not sure.
