How do I remove Start icons?

Hey everybody. I recently got this notebook from eMachines and I don't like the icon being in my Start button (it's under the search icon) How do I get rid of it?. Is it in the registry? If so can someone guide me on how to get rid of it. Thanks in advance.

Windows XP Home SP1

What exactly is this icon, and where is it located. I'm not really understanding what you are asking.

Are you using the Windows XP style menu or the Windows classic menu?

Wow...eMachines won't let you to delete it, huh? You might have to go into the Registry to get rid of it. Sorry, I don't know where to look for Start button menus.
