WinXP Search
The file search in WINXP's explorer is quite often failing, with a message something like "the search companion file is not found, you may need to run setup " What could be wrong

hopefully this article can help you out. i remember someone else on the forum having a problem like this, but i don't remember how they fixed it. that article sounds like it is exactly the problem you are having.

Thanks.I will try that.
But at the same time I find symptoms of W32/Dumaru.A@mm Worm. i find the entry HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run... in the msconfig's start up. Anti viruses are unable to get rid off all associated files completetly. Find entry in registry with HKLM name. Any procedure to remove this? |

what av software have you used? i would try avg at www.grisoft.com and see if that can help you. i would also look to see if there is a removal tool like they had for blaster.

I was mistaken about the virus.
But the Microsoft patch mentioned by you earlier fixed the problem. Thanks again. |
