Forgive me if this is the wrong forum, I have a Dell 8200 and WinXP OS. I wish to restart in safe mode so as to run full system virus scan. All instructions I have seen say to select F8 and boot up and then choose boot option. At boot all I have are F2 and F12. There is no F8 to choose. Have tried both but do not see safe mode as an option, only discette, hard drive and CD as start up options.

it will not actually be in the boot screen telling you to go into safe mode. hit f8 when your computer boots up and it will give you a list of options to boot from. one of them is Safe Mode. highlight this choice and hit enter and it will boot into safe mode. hope that helps
