Unable To boot To XP
About two days I ago I posted a topic about not being able to boot XP after a bad install of 2000. I fixed the problem and now I can't boot to XP again.
I formated my two HD 1) WD JB Special edition 80 GB 7200 RPM 8 MB Cache. This I have XP installed. 2) HD WD JB Special edition 120 GB 7200 RPM 8 MB Cache. This I partitioned into two drives using the XP partition tool. On the first 60 GB I have installed Win 2000 professional the second 60 GB I left open for later. After installing the two operation systems I booted into 2000 and proceded to install all my drivers and other programs I have and went up and did a software up dated at Microsoft. After playing around with it for a day or two I dediced to go and boot to XP and get all the necessary udates for that one also. When the bootloader gave the option of which to boot to I choose XP and get this error message. Windoew 2000 could not start because of the following file is missing or corrupt. Windows\system32\config\systemd My question is why this message come up when trying to boot to XP. Xp is on my master drive and 2000 is on the slave drive. Thanks

I went and found a fix at microsoft and applyed the fix rebooted and ended up with more problems. No I'm unable to change my screen size, open up any programs, or surf the net.
I can do almost eveything in safe mod except surf. I tried deleting the file in safe mode and doing it again with no luck. I also tried loading last known good config no good. This all happening to 2000 not even starting on the xp problem yet. |

Well once again I managed to fix the problem without the help of this site, THANKS. After trying different solutions to the problem I reinstalled each OS on top of the exsisting copy starting with 2000 pro then XP. Now XP shows as my first choice for loading and now each system has been started and restarted at least 20 time without a hitch. THANKS AGAIN
