Registry_Error when booting up XP Pro

I was changing some settings in my computer's BIOS and when I went to Save and Exit, the computer just turned off. I thought this very odd and simply turned the power back on only to find that after the litte black windows screen pops up I get a nasty bsod with a little message about a Registy_Error. It only flashes for a second then restarts automatically. I have tried everything that I know to no avail. Boot disks haven't worked and I can't boot from the XP disk. I really need to be able to get on that hard drive. Any help is appreciated.

I would suggest you first try going back and changing the settings back to their default settings, then try starting again.

If your able to access the internet on another computer than go to microsoft.com upper right hand corner choose support>drop down menue choose>knowledge base. then when the window appears In the choose a Microsoft product enter WinXP then in the search for field enter the error message and then hit enter. I had to do this a couple of time this week.

If all else fails just go ahead and reinstall the OS.

do not try to reinstall the xp O/S
at worst do a repaire
the easyest thing to do is a restore point to a date when it was working fine.

or a scanreg to repaire the regestry

I already did that. I decreased the amount of RAM and was decreasing my AGP aperture. No matter what setting I chose the computer would not boot up.

if the computer will not boot up then set the bios to boot to cd and when the menue comes up you will chose to do a repaire install. this will fix it, just follow the instruction.
after doing that, you will need to reinstall all the updates again
