Does anyone know of a programin windows XP that will let you organize files by selection ? From windows explore you can only select ALL. I am organizing some aircraft photos I downloaded from the internet and want to place them in sub folders in set of 50 each so if there was a way I could go to my download folder and tell it to select ONLY 50 at a time from my 1000 plus photos that I have downloaded then I could cut/copy and paste them to my created subfolders in my C:\media\aircraft Folder so much easer and quicker. Does anyone any know of third party programs ?
Thanks JMH |

This may not be what you're looking for but if you hold down the Ctrl key you can select files individually. Also, if you've selected a bunch of continguous files, by holding down the Ctrl key, you can un-select individual files within that list.

If you use DETAILS view in explorer you can click on the column headings to sort by name or date etc. Select the first of a set of contiguous files by clicking once, then SHIFT click on the last will select the whole group. This can be fine-tuned by the CTRL-click method on individual files to add to, or remove from the group.
Many people (certainly not me) don't use LIST or DETAIL view Miz, and just see an array of icons or pictures. |
