Formatting a new drive

Alright, I took a rather large step today and purchased a S-ATA Seagate hard drive for my computer. Being fairly new at working on computers, this was a large step.

I've installed the drive as well as the SiliconImage SATA controller, and Device Manager shows both as being installed. But....obviously I've got to format this new drive to access it. $64,000 Question: How? I've looked all over WindowsXP and Microsoft.com to get my answer, but I cannot find one. This drive is not my primary drive - it will be a second drive used as a scratch disk for mostly audio work.

So, without re-installing WindowsXP or anything, how do I go about formatting this drive?

Dave.

Send a message via MSN to doctorgonzo
Right-click on "My Computer", select "Manage", and then click on "Disk Management." Your new drive should appear there for partitioning and formatting.
