windows 98 display help

i recently totaly re-installed windows on my think pad, i f-disked the hd and every thing. after re-instlling windows and all of the drivers i have run into a major problem. i cant change my pixles any higher than 640 x 480 or get better than 16 bit color. i cant figure out why.i had 600 x 800 and 256 color before i reinstalled windows. any ideas? heres a link to a pic of my device manager. im runing windows 98 se and a thinkpad 560zhttp://community.webshots.com/photo/99401391/99401

do you know what the unknown device is? i would try and find out what type of vid card you have and get the drivers for that card, because right now it is just using the standard drivers that windows has. this is why you can't go bigger. if you install the drivers for your vid card it will allow you to set it higher

Your system sets up as 640x480x16 as standard. If you really did install all the drivers as you claim it is a matter of going into the control panel/display/settings/advanced/change device.
After the device is installed you can go back in and change the adapter settings.

The procedures in that thread were fairly complete - take another look.

[This is called a "double-post" in forum lingo = and proves confusing to the techs trying to help you out]

Keep at it, you'll get there. All the drivers you needed were in replies in links in the other thread.
