MSN Messenger Problems
I hope someone can help me. My kids are driving me crazy about this issue. For about a few days they could not get into their MSN Messenger. Then I find out that we had to upgrade our MSN in order for it to work.
I downloaded the newest edition from the Microsoft web site. I installed it. Still would not open up MSN. Error message that the password is wrong. Went to the hyperlink button to change password and the message "Can't find page" appears. Any other hyperlink addressing MSN changes I get the same message. My IE appears to be working OK. I thought I had a virus and ran virus checks but nothing. Help, Any Ideas?? thanks |

First thing to try is to make sure Messenger is completely shut down: right click on the Messenger icon in the Notification Area (XP's new name for the System Tray, the area around the clock on the taskbar) and exit out of Messenger. If you're running XP and use Fast User Switching, remember that whatever is running on the account you switch from will still be running in the background even when you're in the account you switch to.
Once you're sure that Messenger is not running on any user accounts, try installing the upgrade again. Be sure to turn off (disable, not uninstall) any anti-virus you may have running in the background before the install. |

You are the third person that I've read about with this problem, myself included. Can you get into any msn sites at all? Mine quit working all of a sudden, didn't do anything and someone in the software section of this site has the same problem. I just got a new computer yesterday and it works fine, but on hubbys computer it still doesnt. Hope you find a solution. Might have to just stick to aol or yahoo.

This might sound unrelated but it can create the problems you're experiencing. Check your computer's clock and make sure it's correct. The problem starting hitting right after the time change and incorrect time on your computer does strange things when you're doing stuff online.

msn messenger
I finally resolved the problem. The issue was that I had to upgrade my MSN messenger in order for it to function. I went on to the Microsoft web site and it is posted that unless MSN Messenger is upgraded, for security reasons, it stopped working.
