How do I install XP over itself?

I want to retain my files but need to reinstall XP. Ive done it before a dn it worked great. Its just that I cant remember how i did it. Ive tried to boot to my OS disk and choose install but it never goes back to the repair page, it just wants to install and delete all files. Can anyone help?

Thanks P.R. That is what I did the last time i repaired it but on this particular computer I dont get the repair option when i choose to install. I can only choose to delete my previous install and install anew or choose a diferent folder to install. I just want the repair option!...oh please god of all windows, gimme this option just one last time...Ill never ask for anything else....(crosses fingers behind back).
