Can you boot to safe mode? If so... try backing up a few days with System Restore.

Do you have any USB devices? If so, unplug all that you can (you'd have to leave the mouse and keyboard plugged in, of course) and see if it will boot.

As Hal9000 asked, can you boot into Safe Mode? If so, there are things which can be done there which will likely solve the problems you're having.

well...having restarted a million times i decided to put the WinXP CD in and boot from it and did a repair....seems to have fixed the problem for now....when i restarted after the repair i finally saw the error message....it said that it couldn't log in because of account restricitions....not sure what exactly that means or how you would fix it if you can't get into windows but for now everything is back to normal...

ok well i firgured it out....i had gotten the idea from another post here that was having a problem...probably the first clue that i shouldn't have done it but you live and learn....any way...i had used the Run>control userpasswords2 program and i had unselected the users must enter a password to logon to this comptuer option...that lead to the problem....im not sure why it doesn't work but...everything is working fine now...thanks guys!
