XP Pro install and uninstall problem's

Hi all!!
Lately ive had problems installing app's and game's and anything that use's the install sheild Wizard. I run the install and everything goes fine untill the progress bar it always hangs at the begining for at least 5 min's, then all goes well and the program or game is inatslled and working fine. I keep my computer clean do virus checks always so i dont know what could of happend. Its hangs when i uninstall something too, could the install/uninstall wizard be corupt? I was going to reinstall SP2 see if that would help but i figured i would ask here first...

I think the install is going ok , it's just the bad in not moving as it should, I have seen that a lot in all systems and is nothing wrong with yours.

probly the program was not written for xp, but still will run fine on it

what av software do you have runing as it may be scaning the install files befor it lets you load

Im running Norton INS 2003, never thought of disableing Norton before installing a program. The hard drive was not doing anything while i was waiting, it was a game that i was installing America's Army 2.0 so i know its compatable with XP. It did it again when i updated to Direct X9.0b the installer "hanged" for 4 or 5 min's then continued on fine..

all so xp may be making a restor point if any of its system files are being modefied by the setup program
