Question about XP/98 SYSTEM

I am building a computer for my friend. He bought everything new the only thing I told him to keep was the hard drive. He has Win 98 on his hard drive I installed XP. But after I was finish installing I had the option of Win 98 or XP on boot up. I thought I did something wrong so I came here to ask around. After looking a little in FAQ XP/98 I seen that some people want this option. My question now is does this in anyway slow down XP? Is it better just to have XP installed and if so how can I get ride on 98?

Alot of people dual boot with more than one operating system, including myself. It has never caused a slow down that I know of.

If you installed the hard drive with Win98 already on it without doing the ENUM Trick you will have trouble with it. ENUM Trick

Having both OS's shouldn't effect the performance of XP. I used the dual boot with 98 and XP for a month or so to get used to XP. When I got the feel for XP I did a format and clean install with the XP disk.
