Boot Device

I was on the phone with Microsoft for 3 hours the other night to fix 3 corrupt files in my Win XP.

They finally decided that I needed to repair my Win XP. The only problem was that they did not know, me either, the following information.

1) they wanted to change the boot sequence and wanted to boot from my CD. They wanted me to find out which key is used for the 4 optionsrepair, recovery, floppy ?

2) which key to use for the boot sequence.

Anyone know. They are calling me back tonight and they want me to find this out. Why they don't know is beyond me. I am new at all this IT stuff so bare with me.

thanks

What kind of computer do you have? A store bought name brand or a home built computer?

when you start the computer try hiting the delete key as soon as you turn it on keep tapping it till you get to the bios or windows starts to load if windows starts then reboot and try the f2 key keep tapping til you get to the bios when your in the bios select the advanced option by using the arrow keys
and hit enter then look for boot options and hit enter then change the first boot device to the cdrom by using the page up and page down keys when done hit esc then look for the exit saving changes use the arrow keys to select it and hit enter if you put you winxp cd in the drive it shod start from that at the first screan hit enter then chose the repair option on the next screan and folow the onscrean instructions
