Unhappy Windows 98se startup problem

I don't know what happened with my system but after I created a data cd with my burner all of the icons in my systray disappeard so I restarted my computer. When my system restarted it looked normal but them a window opened up. It was as if I opened "my computer" and in the address bar it said "C:\windows\system and on the right hand side it said
" % THISDIRNAME% " and it had a warning message saying " this folder contains hidden files, to view these files click show files if changes are made to this folder one or more of your programs may not respond" or something of that nature? When I clicked on the X to close the window, everything looks oh except my Norton anti-virus has an ! mark through it and the icon disappears when I pass over it with the mouse. Can anybody help me out with this ?
I removed Norton from the system and I still get the same window opening up at start-up.
I am running Win98se with a 1.2Ghz AMD Athlon processor and 512Mb of memory.
Please help

Hi oliverclosov - since this seems to be related to the trouble in your recent post "Systray gone?...", I'm going to reply to both over in that more recent thread http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=80871

If this post is for a different computer than the other, post again with that info. Thanks!
