Windows 2k Update problem

I have a customer who is having an odd problem.

When he goes to the windows update site, it scans his pc looking for updates and presents him with a list to download.

When he clicks on the link to download the updates it starts, gets to about 2kb..then nothing else happens, no more data is downloaded. If you open another browser window, you can navigate to web pages and they download...so its not a data connection problem.

I Have tried.

Deleting temp internet files and history.
Resetting the default settings in IE.
Upgraded to IE 6 sp 1
Disabled the firewall.

Could there be a file sitting somewhere that needs deleting.

The customer has also run a repair installation of win 2k, but this has had no effect on this problem.

** This may be related.. norton live update does a similiar thing, but i have resolved that by following the instruction on symantecs knowledge base.

Any ideas would be appreciated
