no os ?
I used one of those history and temp files cleaners and after it ran my system ( win xp )was doing the funky chicken ..i would go on-line and web pages would only half load but the browser would say " finished ". everything was slow and all the icons in my task bar would have an invalid path and none would open ....i went in to safe mode and the screen stays black but i can see " safe mode " in the corners ......if i boot up normally , it shows the xp logo and then a black screen and it seems to load faster than it ever did .the name of the cleaner was " e-tech 2000 " or something .i found it on this site but can`t find it now .any ideas .thanks

Try picking a restore point prior to the history and temp cleaner. Start > Help and Support > Undo changes to your system with System Restore

try booting to normal or safe mode and when windows finishes loading press ctrl alt delete if task manager starts up hit the run new task and browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\ and select rstrui.exe and hit enter
