Outlook Express Locked-Up Tight!!!

Hello All,
I opened Outlook Express to check my mail, and it locked up with the hour-glass. I get the "Not Responding" message when I click to close it.
I have tried the following:
Rebooted several times
Ran Ad-Aware 6 several times
Did 2 Virus Scans that came up clean
Restored XP Home Edition to 3 different previous points
Left the hour glass run for a LONG time
I have since ran out of things to try, and this baby is locked tighter than a drum!
Any ideas on how I can get this running again?
Please tell me that I will not lose all of my emails
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Since my email is not working, I will be back to check any replies.
Thanks

You have too much stuff in the Inbox. The only way I've seen to get OE working again is to go into Windows Explorer and move the Inbox file out of the OE folder. When you start OE again, it will create a new Inbox with nothing in it. I don't know of any way to recover your old emails though.

What operating system are you using?

A repair install of XP seems to be in your future.
You might want to take a look at this though :http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318378
It was originally posted by Wintomato in the Internet forum.
Just remeber that Outlook is part of IE so if you repair one you'll be repairing the other.

Hi Cricket,
I always keep my mailbox extra clean.Never more than 50-75 mails in the inbox and the sent items. I empty the deleted items at least every other day as well.
I am using Windows XP Home edition.

Pam, I will check the link you have provided and see what they say.
Im thinking you are correct with the repair. This thing is really locked up.
I have my mail running on the kids puter now, so at least I can receive mail from there in the meantime.
Thanks for replies, and ill keep yall posted if I find anything.

Hello All,
Just wanted to post and let yall know that Crickets method worked just fine.
I deleted the inbox file, and Outlook fired right up.Lost all of my inbox items, but at least I still have the rest of my mail folders, so everything is great!
Thanks goes out to Cricket and Pam for your help.
Have a great Holiday week.
Dave
