Weird responses to input!
This one's a weird one! It concerns a laptop with Win98.
Basically, none of the usual mouse controls or touch pad controls work. Not just 'not workng', but positively behaving weirdly - like doing the opposite of what I want. It isn't just that the mouse is dirty or something like that. Even just tabbing around makes a whole bunch of menus pop up - the right click menu pops up just by moving the mouse. The laptop is unuasable because of this. Is this a case of reinstalling Win98? I have unplugged the external mouse, but it's the same. Thanks guys. |

Hi Teemro,
I don't feel hugely qualified on this one, but as no-one else has come up with anything, have you tried the whole thing with restarting in safe mode and looking through Device Manager? Reboot, and press and hold control key or F8 while Win starts. HTH, Chris |

Look in device manager to see if everthing is OK, then I would try uninstalling and then reinstalling the mouse. If the mouse has a seperate driver, do it to that too.

Funny mouse
Well, thanks for the responses guys...
I tried uninstalling the mouse drivers to no avail. So what I did was this: I inserted the win98 disk and justlet it reinstall Windows. This without fdisking. The laptop seems ok now. Maybe the thing got a virus, I don't know. Yes, the Brits are taking over PC Mech!!! |
