alright, i have a wireless network with 2 xp pro's and one xp home computers on it. the printer is hooked up to one of the xp pro's. the laptop has xp home and when i try to print, it gives an access denied error. but, if i go through my network places to the computer, and right click on the printer and click connect, i can print. but if i restart the computer, it loses the connection. i have to go and re-connect the printer. the other xp pro does it just fine, so the only thing i can think of is that it is a setting on the xp home computer, and i don't know what it is. for the time being, i just put a shortcut to the printer on the desktop so i don't have to go through every time, but i would like it to connect at startup. also, i should mention that this laptop had lovsan.a and i do not know if it has been removed. avg keeps saying no viruses, but it is acting like it has a virus. so, any suggestions would be much appreciated as i am out of ideas. o, the lovsan removal tool also said that it could not find it on the computer as well, and all of the virus definitions are up to date. thanks
craig

make sure the printers are shared and everything is in the same work group, and that shareing is enabled on both systems

FYI
Are you logged onto the xp home machine with the same account/password as the xp pro machine(s)? If not, make either log on as the account, or add an account on the machine w/ the printer that matches the username/password on the xp home machine. And give it proper permission/user rights. You can do it this way or do the guest account thing(I prefer not to). |
