Minimize all or show desktop in WinXP

I have WinXP home that I installed on my custom made computer a while back. Something has been bugging me all this time with windows XP. How can I get the button that used to be in 98 called 'Show Desktop' that would minimize everything. I want to put it on my taskbar if possible.

Right click on a blank spot within the taskbar, then to properties and you should see and option to show quick launch on the taskbar and withing the quick launch you should have the "show desktop" icon.

Wow, thanks a ton. Do you know how to move it to the right side of the taskbar like WIN 98 setup?

Not sure of your question as I haven't used 98 for a few years, but you can move the quick launch over by unlocking the taskbar and dragging the quick launch over. To unlock the taskbar right click on the taskbar and uncheck the lock taskbar.

Without pressing that annoying icon press WinKey+D that works on win 2000 as well. And just for fun if you need to goto the logon screen (without logging out) you can press WinKey+L (Only on XP)

HNPFL, why would you need to go to the login screen without logging out? Or is is as you said, just for fun?

with xp, you can switch users without actually logging out, hence the login screen without loggin out. your processes still run, and then other users can go and do what they need to do. when you come back and click your icon, everything is just the way you left it
