need some help with dual boot xp/98

got a new HD for my box, decided to upgrade with XPpro, I want to keep my existing win98 HDD intact and dual boot, got the xp drive up and running as C drive, but after modding the boot.ini file, everytime i go to select my win 98 drive it reboots, the 98 hdd was partitioned into a c and d when new, so i dunno if that is causing a problem or what, if anyone can give any pointers it would be great, thanks

Cool

Actually you didn't need to do anything other than install your HD and boot with the XP CD. It will format the new drive, load the OS and set up the boot loader. WIN98 needs to stay on the "C" and XP will then go to next available drive be it D, E, F, ect.

If you have two drives, I wouldn't even mess with boot loaders, etc. I'd just use a HOT SWAP.

That is, CS as secondary, the W98 drive. CS as primary, the WXP drive. The computer will boot the first drive available. When you want to boot WXP, just leave it in. When you want to boot W98, just pull the WXP. The W98 will boot.

It's a lot simpler. It will actually come in handy later when you don't want to mess with W98!

thanks for the suggestions, but i figured it out, as i had independently installed xp on the 80 gig hdd, which then the 2 os's were competeing for the "c" label, so i had to hose the 80 gig, and just install xp with the 98hdd installed, everything works great, dual boot n all that good stuff, now its off to update a million patches.
