PC Mech pages slow/unsuccessful System Restore

A few days ago I deleted a bunch of cookies and a little later downloaded Mozilla. Since then it takes about a minute to go from page to page on PCMech and this forum. I am allowing PCMech to place cookies on my HD. I am using cable broadband and no other sites I visit have this problem...the page jumps right up. Is there something specific to PCMech that might cause it to take a minute for a page to open? I really like this forum but if it takes a minute for a page to open the forum becomes useless...and no, I am not going back to 56K dialup .

Also, I tried XP System Restore at 5 different restore points...all unsuccessful. In the past I have made a few successful system restores but something has changed.

I am at the brink of reinstalling XP

Thanks,
David M

Something has been happening all day, this site really dragged so I don't think the problem is you.
It seems to be okay now though.

No sooner did I try to post that then everything slowed to a crawl.

Thanks Pam
I solved the problem. I went into my Windows Explorer browser and set my privacy settings to allow websites to place cookies on my computer. I went back to my XP cookies folder and saw that PC mech had placed 2 cookies for the main website and that the forum had placed 2 more cookies. Now I have to remember to change my privacy settings back to "prompt me to allow cookie"

I still dont know why XP system restore is DOA

I can't say for sure but it's possible your restore points simply aged out.
Do yourself a favor and set the restore point manually before you make any changes.
In fact, if everything is fine now, set the current date and time as a restore point.

The restore points could be corrupt.
