What is that command line for reinstalling 98se overtop an existing installation. I know it's been posted before, but I couldn't seem to find it.

I just left a reply over in your other thread that has the shorter version (setup /p f)
You can read the Tips & Tricks guide for both approaches http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=70846 . . . seems like we're thinking along the same lines. I was thinking that it might cure the Device Manager disappearance . . . Hope it works! . . . Gary |

Refer the the post before for obtaining your cd-key.
Use a Win98SE or WInME boot diskette. At an A: prompt which hopefully your CD-Rom was detected, change to the drive letter. It will tell you in the mscdex detection which drive it will be. For instance D: you would type in the following at the DOS prompt D: cd win98 setup /is /im /iq /id (this bypasses scandisk and other problems which might accure to prevent you from reinstalling) Or if you don't have the cd, try this ... at the A: prompt type in the following C: cd c:\windows\options\cabs setup /is /im /iq /id |
