First, I am really mad at myself for doing this.
By following the Miscrosoft product suport services (tools/options/maintenance/store folder; then start/run/[CTRL+V]) I managed to get a folder of my emails opened and ready to copy to floppy (I don't have that many). Unfortunately, I previously and cluelessly chose Accessibility Wizard Settings File to "open with". Dumb, I know. Now the email files keep coming up in that form. The original file icons were white docs with the microsoft windows logo (don't know what to technically call that). I'm pretty sure I need to get the email files back to that microsoft windows logo form before backing up. I tried view/folder options/file types [tab], selected Accessibility Wizard, clicked edit, and then erased Open from the field below. Didn't work. I tried right clicking the individual files, while shifting, to try to get the 'open with' choice back. Didn't work. Actually, maybe that would work if I could see the closed folder. When I do what I say above, I just go directly to the open folder. If anybody could help I would be grateful. |

RE: "I'm pretty sure I need to get the email files back to that microsoft windows logo form before backing up."
If reading this correctly and if these files are being backed up, the application that is opening the file will not be a problem when the files are moved to another PC. They will then open up with whatever they are associated with. On the part "I tried right clicking the individual files, while shifting, to try to get the 'open with' choice back. Didn't work." ... did you highlight the file first and then right click to get the 'open with' option? To help us get a better picture of this, can you give the extension of these files and/or where they are located.

Panic Over ( POP ) saves your email, address book, favorites and docs so you can restore them after a reload of Windows 98. You must have a D or E drive to run this program. |
