To Reinstall/Repair XP???

Im experiencing crippling problems in XP-pro including loss of 'remote call procedure' server, cant copy+paste, dns failure. And am just going to pack in and hopefully re-install/repair my windows installation WITHOUT losing any of my vital work stored on my C drive. Is this possible? i'd like to know
  • How to repair it (just put windows cd in on start up?)
  • What exactly I will lose when reinstalling, ie will my MS Office installation, outlook express settings etc etc I need to be kept? As I do not have the time to reconfigure everything and need all my programs to complete a project due soon.

please help me out i'm tearing my hair out

my Norton AV 2k3 subscription has expired, re-installing it doesnt help its in the registry. can i fix that?

are those the symptoms of the blaster? i did have an "msblast" and "mslaugh" running on start up but i disabled them, i also had a "computer is shutting down in 60seconds" message but i disabled that too via disabling the RCP features. I assumed i'd halted it.

i think you still have the blaster first enable the xp firewall this will stop blaster from shuting down your computer then download and run this http://securityresponse.symantec.com...oval.tool.html

I agree with andyms, be sure to disable system restore and after running the removal tool once , restart and run it again. I have seen it not find everything the first time.
