Welcome to PCMech. I'm forwarding you an old issue of the PCMechanic Newsletter. It contains a list of many necessary and common programs you'll find running in your task manager. HTH

Do a "find" for each item and determine if you want it running. If undesired, from desktop hit start, run and type msconfig then select startup tab and uncheck the item if it appears. The program itself may also contain a box that says something like, "load at startup".

You'll want to keep Explorer and Systray. RNAAPP will load as part of the Net connection.

Thanks, Sarge. Someday I'll have to send a donation to that fellow who runs the pacs-portal site. I could never count how many times it's helped me identify processes. And I think it's maintained mostly by one person. One extremely helpful person!

You know, I was at work last night & couldn't remember the link to another, similiar site, over at AnswersThatWork. Their list concentrates on what you might find in the Task List at any time (not just at startup). Now that I'm at home, I have the link handy. Here it is: http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm

rmr - between those two sites you have a good chance of identifying most processes.

Best of luck!

Thank you everybody for the help!
I got rid of a lot of things at MSCONFIG, other stuff I just deleted. 2 others are Virus, I guess I need to update my Anti_Virus. The website you referred me to was a great help.
That is a good site and I think I'll make a donation also.
